 Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth (DM)

 Food grade Diatomaceous Earth is the remains of microscopic one-celled plants called diatoms.  They live in the oceans and lakes that once covered the western part of the US and other parts of the world.  These deposits are mined from the underwater or from ancient dried lake beds some of which are thousands of years old.  Diatoms are the food of the ocean of fresh water grazers.  When magnified 7000x, Diatomaceous Earth looks like small spiney honeycombs.

Food Grade DM has razor sharp edges, which when coming in contact with insects or other pests lacerate their waxy exoskeleton entering their body and absorbing fluids.  THis causes death by dehydration.  When taken internally Food grade DM is used effectively as a natural de wormer for livestock, but must be given long enough to also get the existing hatching eggs or cycling of the worms through the lungs and back of the stomache. 

Parasites do not build an immunity to DM, so it is very effective. 

DM does not have any chemical toxicity.
